Who is eligible for the NDIS?
About NDIS Check
NDIS Check is a free NDIS eligibility checker. It asks 7 quick questions. It shows if the NDIS could help you, or someone you care for. It also shows what an NDIS plan could include, and a rough guess of how much a plan could be each year.
It takes about 1 minute. You don’t need to sign up. It is a guide only. The NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) decides who can join, after you apply. Read the full NDIS eligibility criteria.
How much NDIS funding could I get?
Every plan is different. It depends on your needs and goals, not your income. The checker’s guess uses the NDIA’s own figures for people of the same age, with the same kind of disability, who need about the same help.
Here is the average yearly NDIS plan by age, for people who don’t live in 24/7 supported housing:
| Age | Average plan a year |
|---|---|
| 0 to 8 | $27,800 |
| 9 to 14 | $31,300 |
| 15 to 18 | $45,500 |
| 19 to 24 | $78,100 |
| 25 to 34 | $94,900 |
| 35 to 44 | $104,300 |
| 45 to 54 | $110,900 |
| 55 to 64 | $123,700 |
Source: NDIA Quarterly Report, Supplement E, March 2026. The average across all NDIS plans is about $85,000 a year.

Questions people ask
Is the NDIS eligibility checker free?
Yes. It is free, and you don't need to sign up. We only see your answers if you send them to us.
Does the checker decide if I can join the NDIS?
No. It is a guide only. The NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) decides who can join, after you apply.
Can I get the NDIS if I work or have savings?
Yes, you can still apply. The NDIS is not means-tested. Your job, income and savings do not change whether you can join.
I am over 65. Can I get the NDIS?
You need to be under 65 when you apply. If you are 65 or older, aged care is the place to start. We can help you find the right support.
Can children get the NDIS?
Yes. Children under 9 start with an early childhood partner. They can get early support, and some go on to an NDIS plan.
How accurate is the funding estimate?
It is a rough guess from NDIA averages, not a quote. Your own plan depends on your needs and goals. It could be more or less.
What do I need to apply for the NDIS?
You will need proof of age and residency, and evidence of your disability, like letters or reports from your doctor or therapist. We can help you work out what to gather.
Can I get help in my language?
Yes. Our team speaks English, Arabic, Somali, Dari and Amharic.
